Using Veeam with Glesys S3

With Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Agent, you can leverage S3 (Simple Storage Service), a scalable and secure cloud storage solution. Unlike traditional storage options, S3 offers unparalleled scalability, durability, and accessibility.

By integrating S3 with Veeam, you can seamlessly store your backups in the cloud, ensuring data protection and easy accessibility. If you choose to utilize Glesys S3 service, there are specific settings available to optimize your experience with our service.

Storage optimization

By default, Veeam configures its storage optimization to 1MB, a balance between backup speed and storage efficiency. However, we suggest opting for 4MB instead to minimize the number of objects generated by Veeam.

The storage optimization is set on each job.

To change this setting:

1. While creating or editing a backup job, click Advanced... in the storage section.
2. Navigate to the Storage tab.
3. Set Storage optimization to 4MB.

Bucket Size

Glesys recommends using multiple buckets with smaller sizes, instead of one large one. This approach helps distribute the workload across several buckets, reducing the volume of metadata generated.

We suggest using 20TB per bucket.
